One more day

Tomorrow is the day I've been looking forward to all month.  We'll finally know what GJS's last paycheck (and all subsequent paychecks) of the month will be.  In the past we had to wait until the Monday before the Thursday of the payday to find out the amount.  At this new position, he can find out the Friday before.  Woo Hoo!

Other than this information, not much else is going on financially.  Well, I guess that's not entirely true.  I'm feeling like we should be generous with all our extra money this month.  I want to get a good friend and her new husband a house warming gift since they just moved into a new place that they picked out together.  And it is my Dad's 65th birthday tomorrow and he and my Mom are heading down for the International Auto Show and plan to go out to dinner with us.  I want to treat my parents and take them somewhere they normally wouldn't go.  GJS is not being mean about these ideas, he's not even saying no, he's just providing that annoying air of fiscal responsibility to the conversations.  Which, of course, is my usual domain.  But I don't want to use our extra money "responsibly".  I want to bless others.  I want to show people my love with gifts.  How you use your money shows where your heart is, right?  And my heart is more with my loved ones than with our stupid mortgage.

All right, rant over.  Thank you GJS for insisting on us adhering to our goals and commitments.  It is the right thing to do, even if it feels less good - selfish even, our day will come.  Then we'll be able to give freely and not have our debt hanging over our heads.

  1. Maybe you can volunteer yourself for some sort of service for a gift. Sometimes I think that is even better than an object!
