So those days of slumber parties, many brightly colored packages and cake galore to celebrate my birthday are long gone. I'm grateful for this. I've never been much of a party person and really don't like the receiving end of gift giving. I feel such pressure to be appropriately appreciative. I always am thankful for gifts but I don't have much faith that the giver can always tell from my reaction.
All I wanted for my birthday this year was to get my free chicken dinner at Zehnder's, watch Breaking Dawn Part 2 and have a professional facial at a spa. Two out of three ain't bad, folks. GJS made the 1st two happen for me and also handed me a tied Target bag on the morning of my 32nd birthday loaded with a pair of fuzzy Christmas socks, a bottle of wine and two pages added to his growing "card notebook". We had a couple friend of ours over for a Mexican lunch and we spent the rest of the day in one form of worship or another; from church, to a class on marriage to a prayer meeting.
It is good to know that I can be quite content with a meager amount spent on my birthday when the people in my life love me lavishly.
